Code of Ethics

  • Intrinsic Value: Recognize and honor the inherent worth of all living beings, valuing them beyond their utility to humans.

Kindness: Practice kindness and compassion toward all life forms, acknowledging our interconnectedness and the sacredness of all life.

  • Honor Wisdom: Respect and learn from the wisdom of indigenous traditions that have long understood the sacred relationship with entheogens.

Cultural Sensitivity: Acknowledge and respect all people's cultural differences and histories, striving to repair historical injustices and build relationships based on mutual respect.

  • Sacred Context: Use entheogens mindfully and respectfully within a sacred and intentional context.

Informed Practice: Understand that some entheogenic experiences should be supported by experienced practitioners, while others are safer to engage with in solo journeys or partnership ceremonies. Each teacher and ceremony’s depth should be experienced within the context of intentional and spiritually beneficial choices.

Education and Preparation: Provide comprehensive education to prepare individuals for the journey, ensuring they are well informed and equipped to handle the profound insights and challenges that may arise.

  • Safe Spaces: Create and maintain safe environments where individuals, especially those in suggestible states, are protected from exploitation and harm.

Standards for Spiritual Care: Boundaries between parties and facilitators must be discussed and agreed upon in advance, with explicit, informed consent from both parties, before any alterations in state occur. It is important to adhere to that which is consented upon ahead of ceremony, in order to build trust and care within our communities.

  • Celebrate Diversity: Embrace and support the diversity and uniqueness of human experiences and perspectives, recognizing that inclusive communities are stronger and more resilient.

Compassionate Support: Build communities where loneliness is reduced, love and kindness are paramount, and we are supported through life’s challenges.

  • Sacred Autonomy: Respect your own autonomy and that of others. You and your brethren have a sacred right to self-expression and bodily autonomy.

Personal Growth: Encourage continuous self-reflection and personal growth, recognizing that we are never fully formed and always have room for improvement. Guard against psychedelic narcissism by being open to growth, change, and being wrong.

Open Dialogue: Foster open, respectful, and honest conversations, even when addressing complex and fundamental disagreements.

  • Sustainability: Promote sustainable practices that honor and protect the Earth, recognizing our responsibility to preserve the natural world for future generations.

Ancestry and Ecosystems: Support initiatives like green burials and creating thriving ecosystems that connect us with our ancestors and the land.

  • Integrity and Humility: Uphold the highest standards of integrity while embodying humility. Leadership involves a willingness to be wrong and learn from mistakes, maintaining deeply held convictions while focusing inward and staying humble.

Transparency: Maintain transparency in governance, decision-making, and financial practices, ensuring accountability to the community.

  • End-of-Life Care: Help the terminally ill fulfill their end-of-life wishes with dignity, cultivating relationships with the life forms they will become.

Grief Support: Provide compassionate support to individuals and families processing grief and loss, addressing existential questions with care and understanding.

  • Inner Wisdom: Trust and honor each individual's inner knowledge of when it is the right time to engage with entheogenic teachers, and when doing so would result in spiritual bypassing.

Respecting Readiness: Avoid pushing lessons or experiences on others before they are ready, adhering to the principle that the teacher appears when the student is ready. Stay humble that your journey may not be the same path someone else needs to follow.
